Jesus comes to tea

The Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost. (Luke 19. 10)

Zacchaeus knew that Jesus coming to his town was a big deal.  But being a small man, Zacchaeus didn’t think he would be able to see Jesus through the crowds.

Never mind, he didn’t really want to see Jesus anyway….. but then again…

Boldy climbing to the top of a sycamore tree he chose to put himself in a position where he could clearly see Jesus, without being seen himself. Perfect! What a surprise it must have been when Jesus called to him to come down, and said that he wanted to come and stay at his house!

Zacchaeus certainly didn’t think Jesus would want to come to his house - why would he want to spend time with him? A tax collector, and a pretty dishonest one at that?

How wrong he was. Overwhelmed, Zacchaeus responds to the generosity and grace shown to him and makes a radical change in his life as he begins to follow Jesus.

Choose… Call… Change… Have you responded to Jesus today?
