Walk in the light
'God is light and in him there is no darkness at all' (1 John 1.5)
As Jesus' friends began to digest the truth - that Jesus had broken through from death to life - it was as if a new dawn was breaking in their lives. Like the first rays of sun creeping over the horizon, a new and profound joy and peace was taking root within them.
In the light of the resurrection, Jesus' friends and followers began living in a new way. Imagine a new sun rising that would never set; light which would never fade; a renewal of all things, which could never be reversed. This was their new reality - but there was still clearly much in the world that was yet to be fully transformed; much in the world that remained in darkness.
John writes that 'if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves', hinting that while we might look around and see much wrong with the world, we must also admit that there's plenty wrong within us too. When we do, and then ask for help from the God who is light and justice and truth personified, we can begin to walk more fully in the light.
This week - be honest with God. Where do you need his help to walk in the light?
