At St Frideswide's I hope that we are a church which has fun, makes friends and grows disciples of Jesus. If I had to choose one verse from the Bible to underpin this vision it would be these words of Jesus:
'I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full.' John 10.10
Jesus lives a life full of truth and joy and his relationships are not compromised by pride or self-pity or a lack of self-esteem. His interactions with people and with the world reflect his confidence in who he is and what he is called to do.
It is my prayer that each of us might enter into a greater fullness of life with God this year, and that as a church we would be committed to helping others do the same. To be able to be grateful for and enjoy the blessings of life is a great liberation. To know that we are accepted and loved by God and to learn to unconditionally accept and welcome others is the foundation of a Jesus-shaped life. To be open to God's leading, and to be ready to grow as we pray, read the Bible and meet together will lead to much fruit. And all of this to the glory of God.
As God's people in this place, let's 'have fun, make friends, and grow disciples'.
Do you find it easy to have fun?
How might you grow in your faith this year?
