Always thankful?

'...continue to live your lives in Christ, rooted and built up in him and firm in the faith... and overflowing with thankfulness.' Colossians 2.7

So - our journey through Lent begins...

I wonder if you have decided to give anything up? My family were keen to give up school and homework… other suggestions were crisps (too hard) piano practice (not with an exam coming up) and 'screens'... we will see how we fare!

Or perhaps you have taken something up? We have decided to record the things we are thankful for day by day. Then at Easter we can look back and celebrate, and hopefully continue on into the rest of the year with grateful hearts.

In his letter to the Colossians, Paul weaves a thread of thanksgiving from beginning to end - despite the fact that he wrote from prison (or house arrest). Being a Christian in Colossae wasn't easy - but in just a few paragraphs they are encouraged a number of times to 'overflow with thankfulness' or 'give thanks in every circumstance'.

What can you give thanks for today?

Do you find it easy to be thankful even when life is hard?
