Ian spoke on Sunday - Fathers’ Day - about why we might rejoice in our relationship with God:
Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, rejoice”.
Paul wrote these words from prison, at a time when rejoicing was probably the very last thing he wanted to do. Yet the Bible tells us to rejoice, in hundreds of different verses!
This Fathers’ Day, let us rejoice that we have a heavenly Father, a Father who forgives…..and a Father who longs for us to celebrate and enjoy our blessings.
We can only serve our community effectively when they can see that church can be a place of fun and joy. No one wants to join a community where everyone looks miserable!
Let us reflect the joy of our salvation to our community and rejoice in the unconditional forgiveness and unending blessings of our Father in heaven.
Have you ever experienced God’s sense of humour? What was it like?
What do you think of the idea that God offers an embrace when sometimes we are expecting a solemn handshake?
