What's the cost?
'Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.'
Hebrews 10. 23
This morning Rose joins us to share news and stories from the Church in places around the world where it is very risky to follow Jesus. Open Doors is a charity which helps Christians who are persecuted. Our church financially supports Open Doors, and this morning we hear more about what they do and why.
It doesn't cost us much to go to church. Most of us have at least one Bible of our own. Some of us may have lots of books and music which help us know more about God and be encouraged in our faith. Perhaps we meet with friends to talk, learn and pray.
In some parts of the world it is against the law to go to church or have a Bible. The question at the heart of it all is: Who is really in charge? If we say God is in charge, it means that human leaders take second place, and this is a big threat to some... such a big threat that they will put people in jail or even try and kill them.
How can we know the faithfulness of God in times of trial?
