A trip to Durham...
Ayo and Catherine spent three days in Durham last week at a conference at the Centre for Church Planting Theology and Research at Cranmer Hall in Durham.
They made a presentation about how Community Organising can resource the local church - how it supports us to articulate our passions and vocations, how it offers space to imagine the 'world as it should be' and how we can build relational power to make change for the common good. In short, engaging in Community Organising is a really stimulating way of living out our faith and following the way of Jesus in the world.
It is a way of 'venturing upstream' beyond doing acts of charity to striving for justice. It can help us to love God and our neighbour, tell the gospel and make disciples. We are really enjoying learning along the way and sharing our reflections - please get in touch if you want to talk more about how this can work in practice.
