A Summer Greenhouse

On a brilliant summer’s morning, the Milton Keynes Greenhouse gathered at the Cross & Stable Church, in Downs Darn.

As with our Winter Gathering back in February, teams running ‘School Drop-off drop-in', two mid-week groups, one ‘Chatterbox’ (name says it all), the other ‘Come to Coffee; Stay to Pray’; and two cafe-style services ‘Soup for the Soul’ and ‘Tea & Toast’ all met to learn and pray and eat together.

We kicked off with a look at the Missional Journey (using videos featuring our very own Nudrat Hopper in conversation with Mike Moynagh) from the GODSEND website. We then took turns to identify where each team felt their new christian community was located on the missionary journey. This was followed by a vigorous conversation about the stages of the journey.

Participation continues to be the ethos at MK Greenhouse. As such our focal question emerged from a coaching conversation with a leader of one our teams - “…they come, they have been coming… at which point do they become Christian?”. This session was ably facilitated by Revd Sam Muthuveloe, leader of Chatterbox which meets every Wednesday at the Cross & Stable Church Down Barn, who led a practical and interactive workshop exploring how to “Share Jesus”. It was followed up with pointers to the resources on GODSEND exploring the same theme.

No Greenhouse session is complete without food, and this was no exception. Lunch was followed by a whistle stop tour of the new resource Soulspace which promises tips on introducing worship into an outreach or social action group. It proved something of an “Aha!” moment as we discovered Minecraft Church. Delegates then took time to dream on paper about their expectations and plans for their new christian communities leading upto 2026.

Intrigued? Interested? The next gathering of the MK Greenhouse will take place on Saturday 8th February 2025 at the Cross & Stable Church.
