Can you say 66 words at Noon?
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
How long does it take to pray?
Might as well be asking how long a piece of string is, right?
Well, no. Or yes. It only takes 66 words to recite the Lord’s Prayer in the King James Version of the Bible.
66 words.
Not very long, right?
Which is why, as part of our series on prayer, starting this February. We are taking a look at the Lord’s Prayer and reading through Praying by Heart: The Lord’s Prayer for Everyone by Stephen Cottrell.
We are also asking everyone - you included - to pause at 12 noon daily and pray (say) the Lord’s Prayer.
It’s really that simple. Will you join us?
